Vincent Espinoza, LCSW – Licensed Sex and Trauma Clinician

I am a private practice licensed clinician and therapist serving clients via telehealth in the states of Colorado, Florida, Maine, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah and Virginia. My clinical focus mirrors my lived experience as someone who identifies as a member of the LGBTQ+ community, has been in ethically non-monogamous, open relationships, and who has multicultural and multiethnic roots. I enjoy working with adult men who are exploring their gender, sexuality, and relationships; members of the LGBTQ+ and BDSM/kink communities; and sexual trauma survivors and thrivers. I aim to help clients in accepting and loving the parts of themselves that they have disowned or hidden throughout their lifespan due to negative influences from their families of origin, peers, and society.

Let’s face it. . . .counseling and therapy are SCARY. However, if you are here reading this, something inside of you has clicked and is asking (perhaps, begging) for deeper reflection and healing. Whether it is someone else or myself who you choose as a therapist, I believe you should honor your journey at your own pace and always trust that YOU know what is best for YOU. I believe you already know what you need and I am happy to be that mirror that reflects it back to you. My belief is “Everyone already has their own answers, they just need someone to ask the right questions.”

Treatment Approach

I use a trauma-informed, sex-positive (sex+) approach to address each client’s unique needs. I strive to ensure that my clients always have therapeutic safety in our relationship. I develop and strengthen this safety over time using Person-Centered Therapy. Person-Centered Therapy focuses on providing my clients with empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity in all of our interactions.

I am also extensively trained in evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Processing (CPT) Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization (EMDR) Therapy, The Safe and Sound (SSP) Protocol, and the Flash Technique. All of these modalities are intended to help my clients regain safety and cultivate resilience in their nervous systems.

Additionally, I observe and support a growing body of research that champions the practice of self-compassion and mindfulness in psychotherapy. Neuroscience research reveals individuals that practice these techniques are happier, more resilient, and better equipped to heal painful memories from the past. It is my honor and mission to help my clients move past what’s blocking them from reaching their full potential individually and in their relationships.

“What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.”
